J. Chris Pires, University of Missouri, USA
J. Chris Pires received his PhD in 2000 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison on the molecular phylogenetics of monocots. Currently, he is Associate Professor in the Division of Biological Sciences at the University of Missouri (MU). He is affiliated with the Bond Life Sciences Center, Interdisciplinary Plant Group, and MU Informatics Institute. His research group integrates tools from bioinformatics, phylogenomics, comparative genomics, and systems biology. The Pires lab has a strong interest in polyploidy and the consequences of whole genome duplications on evolving networks, particularly among the crop Brassicas.
He has published over 85 peer-reviewed papers and his work has been cited over 5000 times, see http://scholar.google.com/citations?user=OKuQQXgAAAAJ&hl=en.
