The Plant Genome Evolution Conference 2017 will be taking place at the Meliá Sitges Hotel Congress Centre In Sitges (near Barcelona), Spain.
One of the jewels of the Mediterranean coast, Sitges is just 30 km southwest of Barcelona in the Catalan region of Spain and very easily accessible from Barcelona Airport. The town offers visitors an impressive architectural and cultural heritage together with excellent beaches, restaurants, markets and festivals.
Meliá Sitges Hotel Congress Centre is located on the Mediterranean sea-front and is only a five minute walk from the town centre and train station.
The easiest and cheapest way to reach Sitges from Barcelona Airport is by bus which runs every 30 minutes and costs just €4 one way. From Terminal 1 (arrivals, Andanes 8, 9 i 10) take the bus (Monbus) to Sitges. The bus departs at 20 and 50 minutes after the hour. The journey takes less than 30 minutes. There are fewer bus services on Saturdays and even fewer on Sundays. Please check the Monbus timetable at www.monbus.cat. From the centre of Sitges to the Meliá Hotel it takes 20 minutes walking or 2 minute by taxi (costs around 5 €).
There is an indirect way of travelling from Barcelona Airport to Sitges by train but it takes much longer since there are 1 or 2 changes to be made. From Barcelona to Sitges, there is a direct train (please see www.sitges-tourist-guide.com).
